Strings program

​Redcliffe State High School offers a strong strings program under the direction of the strings specialist teacher. Students gain valuable ensemble, performance and technical skills through rehearsals and lessons, but most importantly are involved with sharing their music with others creating positive musical experiences.

Strings orchestra

Conductor: Ms Emily Ashton

Instruments: Violin, viola, cello, double bass

Rehearsal time: Thursday 2.40pm to 3.50pm Bird's Nest

Overview: The string orchestra consists of string students from all year levels. The ensemble will perform a wide variety of music from classical to pop and even rock.

It is compulsory for all string orchestra students to attend instrumental lessons through the school Instrumental Music Program which consists of one small group lesson of 30 minutes per week.

Students are provided with performance opportunities at school and in the wider community throughout the school year including the annual Redcliffe Wine and Cheese Night, Academic Awards Night, Senior Recital Night, The Peninsula Music Festival, The State Fanfare Competition, Transitions and open evenings.

Rehearsal time: Thursday 3.50pm to 4.30pm Bird's Nest

Overview: This group is open to all year levels, but is by invitation only, and features only our most advanced string students.
